BACKGROUND NOTE
Founded in 1917, the Nebraska Power Company was one of many electric utility companies in Nebraska. On June 1, 1917, the newly formed company acquired the property of the Omaha Electric Light and Power Company. The Nebraska Power Company operated until 1946 when the Nebraska state legislature formed the Omaha Public Power District (OPPD) as a political subdivision of the state. At that time, the OPPD acquired the properties operated by the Nebraska Power Company.
SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
The collection consists of nine yearbooks of the Women’s Division of the Nebraska Power Company. The yearbooks include names of officers, a roster of members, members serving on various standing committees and the meeting program schedule for each year. The yearbooks date between 1935 and 1943.
