BACKGROUND NOTE
Born in 1834 in Apenrade, Germany, Peter Christian Nissen immigrated to St. Louis, Missouri, in 1855. He moved to St. Helena, Nebraska, in 1858. Nissen married Ulila Feauto in Dixon County, Nebraska, on September 3, 1862. The couple had four children. Peter C. Nissen served as Cedar County Recorder for a number of years and was active in the St. Helena community. Peter and Ulila moved to Omaha, Nebraska, around 1890. Ulila Nissen died on January 25, 1913. Peter C. Nissen died on December 25, 1920.
SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
This collection consists of one oversized folder containing papers relating to P.C. Nissen and his family. Original documents in the collection include a baptism certificate (1834); vaccination certificate (1836); Land grant certificate (1860); Land grant certificate (1865); and a certificate of appointment as postmaster (1885). Also included are copies of biographical and genealogical research relating to P.C. Nissen and the Nissen family.
