BACKGROUND NOTE
Organized February 1, 1906, the Pioneer Association of Douglas County, Nebraska, was established to “unite the Old Settlers of Douglas County, in social and fraternal unity.” According to the constitution of the organization, the association “shall be composed of persons who have been residents of the State of Nebraska for not less than thirty-five years and are now actually residents of Douglas County, Nebraska, and all persons who resided in said State previous to March 1, 1867, shall be known and designated as Veteran Pioneers.”
SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
The collection consists of one folder containing three items. The first item is the Constitution and By-Laws of the association. The second item is a Roster of Members for the association. The third item is a blank membership application card. The back of the card has a handwritten note from Martin Dunham dated July 31, 1906. The note mentions an annual picnic held at Hanscom Park on September 6, 1906. All three items date from 1906.
