BACKGROUND NOTE
The Sokol South Omaha Local History Project was started by Ed and Bea Pavoucek in order to document the history of the Czech neighborhood around Brown Park in south Omaha. Over the years, others became involved in the project, including Lorraine Duggin, Evelyn and Walt Fornoff, Steve Potach, and Margie and Rudie Sobotka. Project members interviewed older members of the community and compiled newspaper articles, event programs, photographs, and other materials that documented the Czech history of the community. These materials were photocopied and distributed to several area libraries and historical institutions.
