This collection consists of one item, a typed transcript of a letter written by William Harvey Read to his wife, Sarah Ann. William writes from York County, Nebraska, on April 19, 1871. The letter describes looking for suitable land to settle on in York, Seward and Fillmore Counties in Nebraska. William discusses the high cost of railroad lands, the lack of access to water and lumber, and the probability of having to live in a sod house.
