Scout Workshops – Archeology

Scout Workshop Archeology

Joined by the Nebraska State Archeology team, explore how cultures evolve and investigate the past using artifacts people left behind.

Each Scout must complete this pre-visit activity before the workshop date. Use the external resources listed on the right to help complete the lesson. The Merit Badge counselor will approve the requirement. Scouts must bring completed work with them on the day of their workshop if they wish to complete their Merit Badge.

This program will be offered on Saturday, September 14, 2024, and Saturday, November 16, 2024. Please use the calendars below to select which date you wish to reserve. Workshops are $10 per Scout and $5 per adult. Troop leaders are free. Please review our scout workshop policies for more information.

About NSHS

The Nebraska State Historical Society was founded in 1878 by citizens who recognized Nebraska was going through great changes and they sought to record the stories of both indigenous and immigrant peoples. It was designated a state institution and began receiving funds from the legislature in 1883. Legislation in 1994 changed NSHS from a state institution to a state agency. The division is headed by Interim Director Cindy Drake. They are assisted by an administrative staff responsible for financial and personnel functions, museum store services, security, and facilities maintenance for NSHS.
