Afternoon with an Archeologist

Celebrate Nebraska Archeology Month with archeological activities and a tour with an Archeologist!

Did you know that September is Archeology Month? Join us at the Nebraska History Museum on Saturday, September 9th for all-day educational activities for the whole family to experience archeological practices that help archeologists discover clues that tell a meaningful story of how thousands of people lived in Nebraska.

From 2:00-3:00 pm, take a tour through the exhibit “Piecing Together the Past” led by a History Nebraska Archeologist. The tour will be booked on a first-come, first-serve basis. To register CLICK HERE.

About NSHS

The Nebraska State Historical Society was founded in 1878 by citizens who recognized Nebraska was going through great changes and they sought to record the stories of both indigenous and immigrant peoples. It was designated a state institution and began receiving funds from the legislature in 1883. Legislation in 1994 changed NSHS from a state institution to a state agency. The division is headed by Interim Director Cindy Drake. They are assisted by an administrative staff responsible for financial and personnel functions, museum store services, security, and facilities maintenance for NSHS.
