Garden Party: Reflections and Stories of Senator Norris

Learn about the Senator’s long journey home after the Election of 1942.

During McCook’s 29th Buffalo Commons Storytelling & Music Festival, join Clark Bates as Senator Norris at the Norris House on June 13 from 3-4 pm as he recounts the final journey Norris and his wife, Ellie, made back to McCook following his election loss in 1942. It was a time of bittersweet reflection for Senator Norris. Norris will also discuss a number of his accomplishments and speak of the adjustment to “coming home.”

Admission to the event and a tour of the home, open from 1-5 pm, are free!

About NSHS

The Nebraska State Historical Society was founded in 1878 by citizens who recognized Nebraska was going through great changes and they sought to record the stories of both indigenous and immigrant peoples. It was designated a state institution and began receiving funds from the legislature in 1883. Legislation in 1994 changed NSHS from a state institution to a state agency. The division is headed by Director Daryl Bohac. They are assisted by an administrative staff responsible for financial and personnel functions, museum store services, security, and facilities maintenance for NSHS.
