The history of this land begins long before 1776. Before Nebraska was a state, people had been living here for thousands of years. Their stories, knowledge, and connections to the land formed the foundation of Nebraska’s story and endure today.
The Louisiana Purchase brought this land into the United States, sparking change, opportunity, and conflict. It also changed the trajectory of the land’s future.
The Our Nebraska exhibition invites you to explore 250 years of these layered, interconnected histories—the land, the people who have called it home, and their impact on our state, our nation, and beyond.
Museum admission is $5 for adults (19+), $3 for children (5-18), and free for children 4 and under.
Supported by the Nebraska State Historical Society Foundation.
