American Craft: Nebraska Quilts for the Nation’s 250th
Now Open on the 2nd Floor
Did you know? America turns 250 in 2026!
This anniversary is an opportunity to look back at our shared history – and the things we use to tell our stories – in new ways. The Nebraska State Historical Society is celebrating America’s semiquincentennial birthday in part by sharing pieces from our collections with another museum.
The Smithsonian National Museum of American Art’s Renwick Gallery will feature two quilts in their State Fairs: Growing American Craft exhibit. These Nebraska quilts will be viewed by hundreds of thousands of people celebrating America’s 250th birthday in Washington, D.C. Not only are these quilts beautiful works of craft, but also they are important pieces of Nebraska history.
