Tom Mooney, Curator of Manuscripts at History Nebraska ran across a booklet containing the Ordinances of the City of Beatrice, Nebraska from the year 1885 recently and found something interesting. According to Ordinance no. 60, it was unlawful to ride a bicycle, velocipede or tricycle upon the sidewalks or crosswalks within the city of Beatrice. If you were caught and convicted, it could cost you anywhere from $1 to $10 per violation!
