Governor Pillen has recognized the Nebraska State Historical Society’s Lezlee Williams and Bruce Carlson among 100 State of Nebraska public servants whose job performance exceeds the highest standards and who have contributed to the overall of effectiveness of their agency with the 2024 Excellence in Leadership Award. Bruce is the Director of Facilities and Lezlee the Executive Assistant.

Bruce Carlson joined the NSHS in June 2023, bringing decades of experience and strong communication to the position of Director of Facilities. Previous experience includes the Grand Lodge at The Preserve, Central Community College, and Noodle Services, among others. Bruce has a BS degree in Business, an AAS degree in Heating & Air Conditioning, and numerous certifications including EPA Universal Certification and National Incident Management System (NIMS). He is a skilled project manager for building needs, including HVAC, general maintenance, construction, and fire/security systems. With NSHS, Bruce addresses the needs of modern buildings as well as historic sites and works with staff to implement the most effective solutions while meeting historic preservation standards. His attention to detail ensures projects are completed thoroughly in a timely manner.
Lezlee E. P. Williams is an accomplished Executive Assistant who provides high-level administrative support. Known for her exceptional organizational skills and proactive approach, she excels in managing complex schedules, coordinating executive communications, streamlining office operations to enhance efficiency. In addition to her administrative expertise, Lezlee has a strong background in facilitating workshops and leading conflict resolution meetings. Her ability to mediate and resolve conflicts within teams, ensuring a positive and productive work environment, has made her a valuable asset. Outside of work, Lezlee is passionate about personal development and regularly attends seminars and workshops to enhance her skills.
