Otto Klima Photograph Collection

Otto Klima, 1916-2000, was a lifelong collector and contributor to the collections of the Nebraska State Historical Society. His gift of thousands of postcards and photographs cover many topic areas including town views from every county in the state. Here are just a few examples from this eclectic mixture of historic Nebraska images.

William Jennings Bryan made three unsuccessful bids for the White House: 1896, 1900, 1908. This real photo postcard is quite interesting because the person who sent the card was in the crowd, heard Bryan’s speech, and comments on his campaign in the message on the back of the card.

About History Nebraska
History Nebraska was founded in 1878 as the Nebraska State Historical Society by citizens who recognized Nebraska was going through great changes and they sought to record the stories of both indigenous and immigrant peoples. It was designated a state institution and began receiving funds from the legislature in 1883. Legislation in 1994 changed History Nebraska from a state institution to a state agency. The division is headed by Interim Director and CEO Jill Dolberg. They are assisted by an administrative staff responsible for financial and personnel functions, museum store services, security, and facilities maintenance for History Nebraska.
