Architectural drawing for the Lincoln Public School, Norfolk, Nebraska, by James C. Stitt. [NSHS RG6034.AM]
The Nebraska State Historical Society recently received this architectural plan for the Lincoln School at Norfolk, Nebraska. The drawing is by prominent Norfolk architect James C. Stitt. Attached to the drawing are two photos of the school as it was built in 1911. The “as-built” section of the drawing is outlined in solid black. The drawing also includes the design for a second wing that was to be built at a later date. James Stitt designed numerous buildings in Norfolk and throughout the state, including the earlier Norfolk High School (1890), the Creighton State Bank, Creighton, Nebraska (1890), and the Cedar County Courthouse at Hartington, Nebraska (1891-1892). See our “E-Nebraskahistory” page on James Stitt for more information about his life and career.
