Crash! Boom! Bang! Today’s Throwback Thursday photograph features a foley artist at work creating sound effects at the Omaha radio station KOIL on August 24, 1937. Standing in front of the microphone, he holds two pieces of wood at the ready. Behind him are several other objects used for noisemaking including a telephone, meat cleaver and assorted bells. Around the artist are other noise makers, including a drum and gong.
