Orville D. Howe was born near Painesville, Ohio, September 1, 1831. He came to Nebraska in November of 1871 settling on a farm near Table Rock. As soon as he settled he began planting trees, and was also involved in teaching school. His farming interests grew and soon he had a large orchard. His second marriage was to Mary Pepoon, sister of Theodore W. Pepoon, a prominent Richardson County resident and owner of the Falls City Journal. Howe served as County Superintendent of Pawnee County for three years and was County Surveyor for several terms. He died February 5, 1917, near Table Rock.
