Scout Workshop Genealogy
Joined the Nebraska State Historical Society genealogy team to explore your roots. Become a history investigator—discover what daily life was like for your family, where they lived, what they liked to do, and more!
The pre-work for this activity can be found here. Use the external resources listed on the right to help complete the lesson. The Merit Badge counselor will approve the requirement. Scouts must bring their completed work on the day of their workshop if they wish to complete their Merit Badge.
Please note that check-in for this workshop will be at the Nebraska History Museum at 131 Centennial Mall. Scouts will meet with museum staff from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, then will walk as a group to the Nebraska State Historical Society Headquarters Building at 1500 R Street. Please talk with your scouts about where you will meet after the workshop.
Please note that registration is capped at 20 Scouts.
Scouts must register by Wednesday, October 7th. To fulfill all requirements and earn the merit badge, scouts must complete the pre-registration family history form, which staff will use to find records that meet requirements 4(c) and 4(d). This form must be completed by October 7th. Please reach out to hn.museumeducation@nebraska.gov with any questions or concerns.
Please use the calendar or link below to reserve your spot. Workshops are $15 per Scout and $7 (+tax) per adult. Troop leaders are free. Please review our Scout workshop policies for more information.
