BACKGROUND NOTE
Born in Nebraska on December 25, 1881, Charles A. Jones married Myrta Wakelin around 1904. Myrta taught school at Prague, Nebraska, before getting married. The couple farmed in Saunders County, Nebraska from the 1900s to 1910s. By 1920, the couple was farming in Howard County and had three children. The 1930 census shows the couple living in Flagler, Colorado. By 1940, the couple had moved to Oroville, California. Myrta (Wakelin) Jones died on March 16, 1960. It is unknown at this time when Charles Jones died.

The manuscript portion of this collection consists of one item, a teacher’s notebook kept by Myrta Wakelin while teaching at Prague, Nebraska. Information in the notebook includes mostly notes on history and civics. The entries date from ca. 1898-1901.
