BACKGROUND NOTE
Born May 9, 1915, at Brazil, Iowa, Clifford T. Foster was the son of Robert and Sarah (Thompson) Foster. He attended Centerville High School in Centerville, Iowa. By 1944 Foster was married to Mary Jane Connelly and living in Lincoln, Nebraska. He enlisted at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, on March 15, 1944. Foster captured and held as a prisoner of war in Germany during World War II. After the war, Foster returned to Nebraska. Clifford T. Foster died in Lincoln, Nebraska, on April 22, 1983. His wife and five children survived him.
SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
This collection consists of a thirteen-page reminiscence written by Clifford T. Foster describing his experiences as a prisoner of war during World War II. Foster wrote the reminiscences during his recovery at a military hospital shortly after his liberation from the POW camp.
