SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
The collection consists of one folder containing papers relating to Mark M. Coad, John F. Coad, and the Coad Brothers cattle company. There is an original and typescript copy of a contract between The Nebraska Land and Cattle Company and the Coad Brothers in which the former would purchase the Coad ranches in 1883. There are also several accounts by witnesses to an Indian attack of Wisconsin Ranche, Weld County, Colorado, in 1865. The Wisconsin Ranche was owned by the Coad Brothers. Miscellaneous other items include copies of two speeches given by Ralph Coad, “History of Irish Americans settling in Nebraska,” and one about his father’s and uncle’s cattle and freighting business; a list of Nebraska millionaires for 1902; and Coad family history/genealogical information.
