The Uehling Congregational Church was organized as a direct outgrowth of missionary work done in the northeast Nebraska area by the American Sunday School Union. The church organizational meeting was held on August 15, 1906 and the first church building was erected the same year. Rev. Alexander Nesbit was the first minister, taking the pulpit on January 15, 1907.

In September of 1938, the Logan Valley Bank Building of Uehling was purchased for use as a parish hall. The original church building was remodeled and redecorated between 1949-1951 and was rededicated on November 18, 1951. The Uehling Congregational Church observed its 50th Anniversary on July 1, 1956, at which time it had 125 members.

About History Nebraska
History Nebraska was founded in 1878 as the Nebraska State Historical Society by citizens who recognized Nebraska was going through great changes and they sought to record the stories of both indigenous and immigrant peoples. It was designated a state institution and began receiving funds from the legislature in 1883. Legislation in 1994 changed History Nebraska from a state institution to a state agency. The division is headed by Interim Director and CEO Jill Dolberg. They are assisted by an administrative staff responsible for financial and personnel functions, museum store services, security, and facilities maintenance for History Nebraska.
