BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE
Born in Pueblo, Colorado, September 7, 1892, Corbett Emmett Mills was living at the Paxton Hotel, Omaha, Nebraska, when he registered for military service in 1917. He served as a “wagoner” in the Motor Ambulance Pool during World War I. After the war he returned to Omaha and in 1920 was working as a hotel clerk. According to census records in 1930 Mills was working as a hotel manager in Denver, Colorado. His World War II draft registration card shows he was working at the Pioneer Hotel in Cheyenne, Wyoming. From 1956 to at least 1960 Mills was living in Los Angeles, California.
SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
The collection consists of miscellaneous records relating to Corbett E. Mills’ military service during World War I. Items include a daily diary with very brief entries; a pay record book; identification cards; certificate; etc. Also included is a Nebraska hunting and fishing license from 1923.
Note: The Nebraska History Museum holds Corbett E. Mills’ service jacket and pants from WWI. Not all items are on exhibit. Interested researchers should contact the Museum Collections office to schedule an appointment.
