SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

The collection consists of one document, a list of the items contained in the Davey, Nebraska, Centennial time capsule, June 28-29, 1986. The list describes items from various local businesses, churches, schools and individuals from Davey and the surrounding area. The location of the time capsule is also given. Donna Johnson was responsible for assembling the contents in the time capsule. John Dahl and Ed Kaiser constructed the time capsule and the concrete box in which it’s contained. The content list was compiled by Donna Johnson and Mona Way. The time capsule is intended to be opened after 50 years (June of 2036).

About NSHS

The Nebraska State Historical Society was founded in 1878 by citizens who recognized Nebraska was going through great changes and they sought to record the stories of both indigenous and immigrant peoples. It was designated a state institution and began receiving funds from the legislature in 1883. Legislation in 1994 changed NSHS from a state institution to a state agency. The division is headed by Interim Director Cindy Drake. They are assisted by an administrative staff responsible for financial and personnel functions, museum store services, security, and facilities maintenance for NSHS.
