BACKGROUND NOTE
Frank Rejcha was born August 13, 1858 in Belejsov, near Chudenice, County Klatovy, Czechoslovakia. He came to the United States in 1876 at the age of eighteen. He settled in Michigan first, but then in March of 1877 he moved to Nebraska, where he worked on the farms of Frank Jelinek and Vaclav Sestak, Saline county pioneers. In 1879 Rejcha bought railroad land in Lancaster County and in December of that year married Anna Chrastil, daughter of a Lancaster County pioneer. He served as treasurer of the local school district for twenty-one years. From 1907 to 1909 he served in the Nebraska State House of Representatives. He then moved to Wilber, Nebraska, where he served on the town board. Anna Rejcha died in 1925 and Frank Rejcha died in 1932. Both are buried in the Wilber Czech Cemetery at Wilber, Nebraska.
SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
The collection consists of one folder containing reminiscences (photocopies only) of Frank Rejcha. The reminiscences describe life growing up in Czechoslovakia, his trip to the United States, and settlement and farming in Nebraska. The last page of the reminiscences contains a little bit of information about his time in the Nebraska State Legislature.
