BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE
G.E. Lemmon was born at Bountiful, Utah, on May 23, 1857, the son of James H. and Elizabeth (Whittemore) Lemmon, emigrants from Fremont, Ohio. Lemmon spent the majority of his life on the plains, working as a buffalo hunter and ranch hand in Nebraska. He recorded many of the events and incidents surrounding his life. His recollections include stories of buffalo hunts, Indian skirmishes, outlaws and the cattle business in Nebraska.
SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
This collection consists of four folders of manuscript material relating to the life of Lemmon, including his recollections of experiences as a ranch hand and buffalo hunter. Also included are manuscripts dealing with the capture of Crazy Horse, the Olive Trial, buffalo hunting, the cattle business and numerous stories of Nebraska and early pioneers. There are also letters regarding the validity of the Lemmon recollections.
