This German congregation located in Webster County, Nebraska, was disbanded in the fall of 1951.



SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE



This collection of the records of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cowles, Nebraska, is contained in one volume on one reel of microfilm in one series: 1) Records, 1904-1951. Much of the volume is in the German language. The records of this church can be found at the end of a reel which also contains the records of Spalding, Nebraska. Hope Lutheran Church and Deshler, Nebraska. St. Paul Lutheran Church.



Note:  These records were filmed by the American Lutheran Church Archives, Dubuque, Iowa, and this copy of the film was received by the Historical Society in July of 1983. This reel is not available through interlibrary loan. Researchers interested in obtaining a copy of the microfilm should contact the American Lutheran Church Archives, Dubuque, Iowa.

About NSHS

The Nebraska State Historical Society was founded in 1878 by citizens who recognized Nebraska was going through great changes and they sought to record the stories of both indigenous and immigrant peoples. It was designated a state institution and began receiving funds from the legislature in 1883. Legislation in 1994 changed NSHS from a state institution to a state agency. The division is headed by Interim Director Cindy Drake. They are assisted by an administrative staff responsible for financial and personnel functions, museum store services, security, and facilities maintenance for NSHS.
