BACKGROUND NOTE
Born at Amherst, Nebraska, on January 18, 1923, John Davis Curd was the son of Thomas and Olive Curd. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Curd married Arlene McGinnis in Detroit, Michigan, on January 13, 1943. After the war, the couple lived in Farmington, Michigan. John D. Curd died on August 31, 2008. He is buried in Glen Eden Memorial Park at Livonia, Michigan.
SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
The collection consists of one folder containing typescript reminiscences of John D. Curd. The reminiscences describe Curd’s service in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Curd describes various battles, including Midway, Santa Cruz and Coral Sea. The reminiscences cover the time-period 1940-1946.
