SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

This collection consists of one volume containing minutes of meetings of the Johnson County Extension Service, and its predecessor, the Johnson County Farm Bureau. Organized as the Johnson County Farm Bureau, the organization’s name was changed in January 1941 to the Johnson County Extension Service. Entries in the volume date from December 26, 1934 to March 2, 1946. Business covered in the minutes includes election of officers, approval of payment of bills, and discussion of various projects and committee work.

About NSHS

The Nebraska State Historical Society was founded in 1878 by citizens who recognized Nebraska was going through great changes and they sought to record the stories of both indigenous and immigrant peoples. It was designated a state institution and began receiving funds from the legislature in 1883. Legislation in 1994 changed NSHS from a state institution to a state agency. The division is headed by Interim Director Cindy Drake. They are assisted by an administrative staff responsible for financial and personnel functions, museum store services, security, and facilities maintenance for NSHS.
