Size: 2 manuscripts
SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
This collection consists of two manuscript articles written by Mal Hansen. The first article, “Radio Station WOW 1948 European Farm Tour,” describes the experiences and observations of the twenty-five farmers who participated in the tour of Europe organized by Omaha’s radio station, WOW. The article provides interesting comparisons between farming practices in the United States vs. European practices at the time. The second article, “The Mary Foster Tour to Europe, 1949,” describes the thirty-member, all woman European tour sponsored by Nebraska Consolidated Mills (now a part of ConAgra). The tour’s goal was to find out how the average European housewife lived, what her problems were, how the Marshall Plan affected the housewife, and what women could do to help in the future.
