BACKGROUND NOTE



The Nebraska Mosquito and Vector Control Association was founded in 1974 as a non-profit educational organization.  The objectives of the association are: 1) To promote the efficiency of mosquito abatement, vector control and related activities, through the encouragement of research, development of procedure, and the interchange of information; 2) To circulate among its members and other interested parties, pertinent knowledge relative to mosquito abatement and related subjects; and 3) To encourage field trips and meeting of the members.



SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE



The collection consists of records of the Nebraska Mosquito and Vector Control Association.  Items include newsletters, membership lists, correspondence and minutes of meetings.  The records date from 1974 to 1992 with a few items from 1998.  The records are arranged chronologically.

About History Nebraska
History Nebraska was founded in 1878 as the Nebraska State Historical Society by citizens who recognized Nebraska was going through great changes and they sought to record the stories of both indigenous and immigrant peoples. It was designated a state institution and began receiving funds from the legislature in 1883. Legislation in 1994 changed History Nebraska from a state institution to a state agency. The division is headed by Interim Director and CEO Jill Dolberg. They are assisted by an administrative staff responsible for financial and personnel functions, museum store services, security, and facilities maintenance for History Nebraska.
