BACKGROUND NOTE
Orpheus L. Polk was born at Raymond, Nebraska, on September 22, 1896. Son of Lurton and Jeannette Polk, Orpheus graduated from the University of Nebraska Engineering College. He served as an executive engineer with the former State Roads and Irrigation Department. Polk was a veteran of World War I and a member of the Lincoln Engineers Club. Orpheus L. Polk died in Lincoln, Nebraska, on December 30, 1968 and is buried in Wyuka Cemetery.
SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
The collection consists of one folder containing letters and reports of Orpheus L. Polk describing his matchbook cover invention and his farming tool inventions. The materials date from 1923 and from 1938 to 1939.
