The collection consists of a letter (and envelope) dated November 29, 1944, from Robert Gingrich to his aunt and uncle, Bessie and Rudolph Eis, of Humboldt, Nebraska. In the letter, Gingrich describes his life as a soldier during World War II in New Guinea and the Philippines. In particular he notes the weather and his observations about the native peoples.
