BACKGROUND NOTE
The national Parent Teacher Association was founded in 1897. Major accomplishments of the national group included the creation kindergarten classes; child labor laws, hot lunch programs; and mandatory immunizations. The national PTA organized the Nebraska state association in March of 1922. The various local PTA chapters were approved by the state association. The PTA strives to better the lives of children through programs geared towards education, health and safety.
SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
This collection consists of one item, a scrapbook relating to the University Place P.T.A. Items contained in the scrapbook include newspaper clippings, programs, membership lists and photographs. The scrapbook dates from 1930 to 1931.
