SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
The collection consists of one letter written by Captain W.H. Stoner to J.B. Weston. Dated August 17, 1864, the letter describes Captain Stoner’s account of his company’s pursuit of a hostile Native American band along the Little Blue River. The company skirmished with the Native American band on August 15th, 1864. The letter does not state how many Native Americans were killed, but the company lost two men during the skirmish. Also included is a typed transcript of the original letter.
