BACKGROUND NOTE
Walter Mason Camp was born in Capetown, Pennsylvania in 1867. He spent his career as a civil engineer specializing in railroad construction and maintenance. Camp became an avid researcher of Indian life and customs, most particularly the Indian Wars. He died on August 3, 1925, in Kankakee, Illinois.
SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
This collection consists of five reels of microfilm containing the research papers of Walter Mason Camp. The collection includes correspondence, interview notes, general research and field notes, drafts of writings, maps, newsclippings, and miscellaneous research and reference materials created and collected by Camp, and pertaining to the Indian Wars of the plains (1864-1890).
