BACKGROUND NOTE
Born in Missouri on August 12, 1891, Zwingli Frederick Meyer graduated from Central Wesleyan College at Warrenton, Missouri, in 1911. He served in the Methodist church and taught school at Urich, Missouri for three years. Meyer then attended the Iliff School of Theology in Denver, Colorado, graduating in 1917. He joined the Methodist Conference and served in churches at Concordia and Corder, Missouri. He married Luella Rehkop in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1920. Meyer transferred to Nebraska and served in the Methodist churches at Hallam, Eustis and Crete. He retired in 1956 due to poor health. Zwingli and Luella lived in Crete, Nebraska, until 1973 when they moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico. Rev. Zwingli F. Meyer died in Santa Fe on December 26, 1981. Luella Meyer died on October 23, 1996. Zwingli and Luella Meyer are both buried in Riverside Cemetery at Crete, Nebraska.
SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
The collection consists of one box of papers containing writings and research materials of Rev. Zwingli F. Meyer. The materials relate to his research on the Methodist Church and particularly German Methodism in Nebraska. The collection was transferred to History Nebraska from the collections of Iowa Wesleyan University, Mount Pleasant, Iowa.
