BACKGROUND NOTE
The Athenea Club was founded on October 28, 1892, in Lincoln, Nebraska. It was first called the “Round Table Club.” A motto, “We strive to be what we should be” was adopted. The Athenea Club was primarily a literary discussion group which met periodically in the homes of its members. Topics were dedicated to history, politics, and literary subjects.
